1st Semester Final Blog

  • Burning Screens
    • We got into the habit of checking the transparencies before burning screens to make sure they were printed in rich black.
    • We learned how to fix screens without re-burning them if they were not sprayed out perfectly the first time by using Clorox wipes and green tape. This has saved us a lot of time and energy, especially on the sophomore class screen. Some of the thin letters were not sprayed out all the way and we used Clorox wipes to take off some of the emulsion as needed as seen in the picture below.

  • Making Less Mistakes
    • Last year my screen printing group went through a lot more shirts than what we did this year. This is proof of us making less mistakes and therefor being more efficient. Last year we burned through about enough shirts to fill this whole bin. This is the bin this year (some of the shirts in the bottom are still left over from last year and most of them are from the other class). Ally and I probably only wasted a total of 10 shirts through out the whole semester, if that.

  • Less Help Needed/ Problem Solving On My Own
    • Last year, my screen printing group needed help with almost every step of the process from lining up screens to solving problems during actual printing. This year we did almost all of it on our own.
